I'm Jerin — a finance professional and a working artist. I run JBABY Art here in Hamilton, and I spend my days in numbers. So I know both sides of this: the part where you pour yourself into a piece, and the part where you have no idea what that piece actually earned you after materials, fees, and the hours you didn't count.
Most money advice for artists is written by people who've never sold a single original. This isn't that. I'm not a suit who doesn't get it, and I'm not going to pretend I built an empire selling prints. I'm someone who understands money for a living and makes art on the side — and I'd rather use that to help you than watch another talented artist quit because the finances never added up.
